What your browser receives

Each page is a plain HTML file generated in advance, and everything it needs is served from this domain itself. No page contains JavaScript, a tracking pixel, an embedded video or a font fetched from somewhere else, so loading one contacts no third party at all. Nothing is stored in your browser either: the site sets no cookies and uses no local storage. There is nothing to sign up for and nowhere to leave a comment.

What the server writes down

The server software is nginx, and it records requests the way web servers normally do. For each request the access log keeps the visitor’s IP address, a timestamp, the page requested, the status code and number of bytes sent back, the referrer if one was supplied, and the identification string that browsers attach to every request. Faults go into a separate error log, which can hold an IP address as well. The logs start a fresh file every day, and any file older than 14 days is deleted. They get read only to track down a fault or block abusive traffic, and they are never sold, handed over or matched against other records.

Mail you send

An email to editor@techuntouch.com is used for replying to it and nothing more. The sender’s address goes on no list and is passed to no one, and the exchange will be deleted on request.

Asking about your data

At most, the site could hold two weeks of log lines about you plus any mail you have sent. To ask for a copy or for deletion, write to the editor address above. The request is handled the same way whatever country you live in.
